Delete your OrQuest account
How to delete your account in OrQuest, the app by Yaniv Cohen, and what happens to your information. In Hebrew: מחיקת חשבון באור־קווסט. Both versions are official; if they differ, the one more favourable to you applies.
1. The short version
- Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it first if you no longer want it.
- In the app: You, then Settings, then Account, then Delete account (on a device with a child profile, under For parents, after the parent question).
- Without the app: email support@orquestapp.com with the subject "Delete my account". We act within 7 days of your request, or of your reply if we ask you to confirm it is you (section 4).
- Deleted at once: the account, synced progress, league weeks, friend code and friendships. Backups and logs expire within 7 days; a few records stay longer (section 6).
- What is saved only on your device stays until you use Delete everything or remove the app.
2. First: deleting does not cancel a subscription
Apple or Google bills your subscription. Deleting the account, signing out or removing the app does not stop billing. To stop it, cancel:
- App Store: Cancel a subscription from Apple
- Google Play: Your Google Play subscriptions
- Cancelling through us (phone, email, registered mail or online): Cancel a subscription
A subscription you keep stays with your store account, and Restore purchases in the app reconnects it.
3. Delete your account in the app
- Open OrQuest on a device signed in to the account (or sign in to it first).
- Open the You tab, then Settings (or tap Manage account at the bottom of the subscription screen).
- If the device has a child profile, tap Account and subscription under For parents and answer the parent question.
- Under Account, tap Delete account and confirm.
- On an iPhone or iPad where you signed in with Apple, Apple asks you to confirm once more. Cancelling that step deletes nothing.
Deletion happens as soon as you confirm, and the app tells you when it is done. Signing in again later creates a new account, and the progress of the adult profile on that device is saved to it, as at any first sign-in. To start the new account from nothing, use Delete everything before you sign in again.
4. Ask us to delete it without the app
Email support@orquestapp.com with the subject "Delete my account", from the account's email address or telling us that address. Hid your email with Apple? Say so and we will help you find it.
If you write from another address, we write to the account's address and act once you reply from it. We never ask for a sign-in code.
We delete the account within 7 days of your request (or your reply, if we asked for one) and confirm by email. To remove OrQuest from your Apple Account too, see Manage your apps with Sign in with Apple.
What you send us. We use the details you send with a deletion request (here or under section 8) only to find the account, check that the request comes from its holder, delete what you asked for, confirm it to you, keep the record described in section 6, and answer you. You are not legally required to give them, and giving them is your choice, but without the account's email address we cannot find the account or delete it. The controller of this information is Yaniv Cohen, who runs OrQuest (support@orquestapp.com). Emails are kept in our mailbox at Google (Google Workspace). Under sections 13 and 14 of Israel's Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981, you may see the information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. The Privacy Policy explains who else receives information and why.
5. What we delete at once
- The account: its email address, sign-in methods (Apple, email code, or Google if we offer it) and sessions.
- Progress synced from the adult profile linked to the account: XP, streak, daily history, lesson and story progress, review schedule, achievements and stats.
- Every league week: league name, weekly XP, tier and results. You leave this week's live league at once.
- Your friend code and all friendships, and any code you tried that matched nobody. Friends no longer see you.
- Any pause of your access to the live league or friends, with the reason we wrote (Privacy Policy, section 9).
- Records of what you accepted or agreed to that are kept with the account, apart from the deletion record in section 6.
- Sign in with Apple: after a deletion in the app on an iPhone or iPad where you signed in with Apple, we ask Apple to revoke OrQuest's sign-in tokens. If Apple does not confirm it, the app tells you how to remove OrQuest from your Apple Account yourself.
We also instruct RevenueCat, our subscription service, to delete the purchase record it keeps for the account, with any record of what you accepted that is kept with a purchase (the latest one is first copied into the deletion record). That record stays only until RevenueCat has done so (section 6).
Only adults (18 and over) can have an account, and child profiles are never saved to one. An email sign-up never confirmed with its code is deleted automatically after 7 days.
6. What remains, and for how long
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Daily backups of our database (Supabase) | recovery from a failure | Up to 7 days. If we ever restore a backup, we delete the account from it again. |
| Supabase technical logs of requests and sign-ins: email address, IP address, device type and time | security and fixing faults | Up to 7 days |
| The purchase record at RevenueCat, until RevenueCat carries out our instruction to delete it | RevenueCat does the deletion on its own systems; we repeat the instruction until it confirms, and again a week, a month and a year after the deletion, in case another device still signed in to the account brought it back | Until RevenueCat has completed it |
| After a deletion in the app, the new random code RevenueCat gives that device, with its device details | so the app can keep checking for a subscription on that device | Until 24 months have passed since RevenueCat last saw that device, no subscription in that record is still active and, if the record holds a purchase, 3 years have passed since its last subscription ended, as for any device that is not signed in (a daily check then deletes it) |
| An address to which a sign-in code email bounced, or whose owner marked one as spam, on the list at Amazon SES that stops further sending to it | so that nothing more is sent to that address | As long as it stays on that list |
| Purchase and subscription records at Apple or Google | they take the payment and keep their own records | Under their own policies. We cannot delete them. |
| Payment and refund records | tax and accounting law | 7 years |
| Emails between you and us, including a deletion request | answering you | 24 months after the last message. Google then removes deleted mail within 180 days. |
| A record of a cancellation notice you sent us: your name, the date, how it reached us, the store and what we did (no ID number) | proof, if asked, that we acted on your notice | 3 years |
| A deletion record: the account's random ID, the date, how the request reached us, the Terms of Use version you accepted and the Privacy Policy version shown to you, when, on which screen and in which version of the app; the same details of the first and of the latest free trial or subscription started on OrQuest's subscription screen; how many times and when we last asked RevenueCat to delete its record, and when it confirmed; when Apple confirmed revoking OrQuest's sign-in tokens (no email address, no progress) | proof, if asked, of what was agreed and that we deleted the account | 3 years |
7. What stays on your device
Deleting the account signs the device out. Profiles and progress on the device, including child profiles, stay until you delete them:
- Delete everything (Settings, then Data) clears the device's profiles, progress and settings and signs the device out, but does not delete an account. With a child profile on the device, the parent question comes first.
- It deletes at once profile photos, the last share card and the app's other temporary image files.
- If you joined the live league on this device, it takes you out of it (if the app can reach us at that moment; otherwise your league name stays on this week's board until the week ends).
- It keeps, on purpose, the timing of a one-time offer you were shown, the reminders already set before a free trial ends or a yearly plan renews and a monthly plan's yearly reminder, and, if you were signed in with an active subscription, a note that it is active.
- It leaves RevenueCat's storage (on a device that was signed in, with a new random code, as at sign-out), and copies in your own backups.
- Removing the app removes what it keeps on the device, except, on Android, RevenueCat's random code in Google Block Store while Google backup is on; on iPhone and iPad, the key that encrypted the sign-in, which the Keychain keeps (it holds nothing about you, and the app deletes it when it is next installed and opened); and copies in your own backups.
- On an iPhone or iPad, profile pictures can also be in your own iCloud or computer backup.
- Another device that was still signed in to the account keeps its email address and ID until OrQuest next renews its sign-in there, which it does with a connection at least once an hour while it runs. It then signs itself out and stops using the account's ID with RevenueCat; its profiles and progress stay, as above.
8. Delete only some data
- Leave the live league: on the League screen, choose Use simulated board, which switches you to the practice league. You leave this week's board at once: your league name and XP are taken off it. This week's row stays, without XP and seen by nobody, so that leaving does not change who moves up or down (Privacy Policy, section 9). Past weeks are kept for 12 weeks after they close; after that, only your latest week's league name, tier and result stay, until you delete the account. Signing out on a device where you joined also leaves it, if the app can reach us at that moment; otherwise your league name stays on this week's board until the week ends. Signing out on a device where you never joined does not. Joining is per device: another device where you joined puts you back on the board the next time its League screen opens, until you leave or sign out there too.
- Remove a friend: open the friend on the League screen and choose Remove friend. The friendship ends for both of you.
- Replace your friend code: choose New code. The old one stops working; friends you have stay.
- Reset progress: Settings, then Reset lesson progress. A profile saved to the account is reset there too. With a child profile on the device, the parent question comes first.
- Sign out: the device stops saving to the account, which stays until you delete it.
- Ask us: email support@orquestapp.com saying what to delete. As in section 4, we check that the request comes from the account holder, do it within 7 days and confirm; records we must keep stay for the times in section 6.
